The Soul Mate Prep Blog#108: Did you feel for the people in August: Osage County?

"What you have in you, will save you. If you don't have that within you, what you don't have in you, will destroy you."-Gospel of St. Thomas

August: Osage County was on Broadway a few years back and the film version was released a year and a half ago. It was labeled an American dark comedy drama.

I have to ask, who would label a dysfunctional family who are in so much pain a comedy?

The writer executed the pain but I feel there was no redeeming quality to the story. Even though, I would call the characters "too far gone," meaning it is too late for someone to uncover all the non-functional issues one has suffered. When someone is "too far gone" their denial is so strong, they are blinded by their pain and can't see they're the only one who can save them. However, the writer could have put the youngest in therapy to understand what she had inherited.

Can you feel for your own suffering?

"The “run for the carnations” brings home to me the origin of this divine flower. The first carnation appeared on Earth when Mary wept for the pain and suffering for Jesus. The deepest part of me is weeping for the misery and torture of Charismatic, and also for all the people who are in psychological and emotional agony. The crowd is feeling my grief and that of Charismatic. I know deep down all of us have the compassion to open our hearts and feel for ourselves and others."-Excerpt from Charismatic Connection

"A dysfunctional family is full of suffering and continues the cycle by reproducing and then expects that generation to heal them."-Serena Jade

Do you have the courage to heal your dysfunction you inherited?
