Muhammad married by the age of 25 and fathered several children.However, he was unfilled with the polytheistic worship of many Gods around him.He sought solitude in the desert. Around the age of 40, Muhammad was in a cave meditating in the middle of the desert. An angel appeared to him and said, "read in the name of your Lord." This was the first profound message he received from the Divine. Ten years later, Muhammad went on a night journey and ascended to heaven in the company of angels.From Mecca he traveled to Jerusalem,where the shrine of The Dome of the Rock is today and prayed... He lifted his mind up to Heaven and received the Divine's instruction to pray 5 times a day.
